Communication difficulties related to Trauma and Attachment

What you need to know

The first three years of a child’s brain development is most important. Children learn more quickly during these first three years than any other time in their development. Positive early experiences and a strong attachment with one or more caregivers can help your child to be a better learner, thinker and form healthy relationships with others.  Children who experience trauma during these early years can go on to have difficulties with language and communication, regulating emotions and thinking.

How we can help?

At Affinity, we are experienced in working with children who have a trauma background as well as children who are in the care of child safety.  We can provide an assessment of the child’s language and communication as well as providing evidenced based intervention strategies to support the child to develop their skills.  At Affinity we work in a trauma informed way to support the whole child, working closely with care givers and other professionals.
